About the Probate Court

The primary function of the Probate Court is to ensure that estates and guardianships are administered in accordance with the law.

The Probate Court of Grady County has exclusive jurisdiction in the following matters:

  • Probate of wills
  • Appointment and removal of executors and administrators
  • Appointment and removal of guardians/conservators of minors and incapacitated adults
  • Audit of returns of executors, administrators, and conservators
  • Issuance of marriage licenses
  • Issuance of weapons carry licenses
  • Miscellaneous services such as recording of elected officials’ oaths and bonds, certificates of residence, etc.

Licensing

Weapons carry license and marriage license applications are available online at https://georgiaprobaterecords.com/, but applicants must come into the office to complete the process.

Passports

Appointments are encouraged but not mandatory

Please see the link below to see all the information for passports. The application can be completed online, or we do have applications available in our office. The accepted forms of payment are MONEY ORDERS or CHECKS. No cash, cards, or counter checks will be accepted. Each application requires 2 checks or money orders. Feel free to call our office if you have any questions.
