PRE-HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN KICK-OFF MEETING
Hazard Mitigation Planning for 2025-2029
Protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents in Grady County is a critical task for public officials. The Federal Emergency Management Agency funds communities to participate in the planning process and update their current Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
A kick-off meeting for the Grady County Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 10. am at 33 17th Avenue NW, Cairo, Georgia 39827. The purpose is to inform the public about the plan’s development and to review the progress Grady County and the cities of Cairo and Whigham have made in updating the Pre-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires forming and updating a local plan to reduce vulnerability to damage by natural and man-made disasters. Representatives of the Georgia Environmental Management Agency and the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission will discuss the plan update process. The public is invited to attend.
